Nostalgia is a powerful emotion. It takes you back in time to something that for most people, is, at least - - smile-worthy. It shines a warm light on childhood, youth, family, and friends' memories.

Even for those whose youth was less than ideal, nostalgia for some past events can still provide a safe haven for memories. Especially where television shows were involved.

You could lose yourself in the escapades of crazy cartoon characters (Road Runner), or imagine yourself stranded in some prehistoric place (Land of the Lost). The possibilities were endless for numerous generations of TV hounds like me!

We asked our Facebook friends and callers to tell us what their favorite TV cartoons or shows were when they were kids and they had a lot of them!

Chad Howe - -The Bugaloos.. not sure why I liked them... but looking back I think they were always stoned!
(My thought was that all of the Sid & Marty Krofft shows back then seemed like they were conceived in a drug-induced haze!)

Fennella BergesonCasper the Friendly Ghost - no reason - just liked it - and Johnny Quest- I may or may not have had a crush on him back then.

Matt Larson - Gentle Ben. When I was young I wouldn’t answer to Matt, only if they called me gentle Ben.
(I commented back to Matt that it was the same thing with me, I only answered to "Flipper"!)

Bill MurphyThundercats, HeMan, Transformers, and GI Joe. I still like watching them, I'm a kid at heart!

Jennifer Martin - I liked Rocky & Bullwinkle, although it was in part due to The Dukes of Hazzard coming on right after. I also had a crush on Ricky Schroeder from Silver Spoons. I wrote to his fan club and never got a response, so that killed my pre-teen crush!

Shannon Kimbler- ALWAYS the Saturday morning Looney Toons!! I loved the Roadrunner and Speedy Gonzales

Lisa Dvorak - I couldn't wait to get home, just so we could watch Gilligan's Island - -I was in love with the Professor!
(I know! He was so smart & yet oblivious to the fact that Mary Ann had the hots for him!)

Brandy Binstock -Scooby-Doo or Zoboomafoo. Love animals and still watch both of them

Mark T. SternhagenCaptain Kangaroo in the morning, Captain 11 after school, with Mickey Mouse Club. As for my favorite one, probably Under Dog, because- - he was always the underdog!

Jennifer Hartmann MaturiBugs Bunny-How many of us learned some pieces of classical music through watching that?

Sheryl Ann Penelope Pitstop. I liked her pink car.

Valori Christopherson MaherThe Rocky & Bulwinkle Show because it had all those other cartoons as part of it too.

Tim Connor Captain Caveman and also Grape Ape. They were awesome !!!!

Jean MorrisonHe-Man and Inspector Gadget

Genelle Van Wyk Micke - Smurfs! They looked so cuddly and Smurfy!
