A 29-year-old female teacher in Hartford, South Dakota is facing three counts of fourth degree rape for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

On Thursday, August 18, 2016, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office arrested Kari Boll, a teacher at West Central High School. Boll is currently being held in the Minnehaha County jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

Boll, allegedly had a sexual relationship going with a male student in the school that started in May of 2016 and lasted until just recently according to authorities.

West Central School District Superintendent Jeff Danielsen says the district does background checks on every teacher they employ. The welfare and safety of every student is their primary objective.

Danielsen said, “We do not want students to fear coming to school and to worry about their safety or either the safety of their peers or our other staff members.”

Boll had been a Special Ed Teacher with the West Central High School for the last three years. She resigned Thursday as a result of the rape investigation.
