Former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland is extending his Purple At The Core to the West Coast, with a new string of dates starting on May 29th in Hollywood. But not all is well in the Weiland camp, with Loudwire confirming that drummer Danny Thompson has quit Weiland's touring band after seven years. Thompson wrote at Facebook, "I have just officially QUIT The Scott Weiland Solo Band. Loved playing with the guys for 7 years but it's a matter of self worth. Not going to elaborate."

Despite saying he wouldn't elaborate, Thompson hinted at a reason in a response to a fan asking why he left, saying, "Carley really? You know better then most. The Darkness..." Thompson's mention of the Darkness might have been a reference to the British act going on hiatus in 2006 due to frontman Justin Hawkins' substance abuse.

The other members of STP issued a statement on February 27th revealing that Weiland had been "terminated."
