One of the cool things about Twitter is the dialogue it can open up between artists and their fans. But as was recently the case for Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, that communication can take a dark turn.
Soundgarden is the first international act announced to perform at the 2014 edition of the Life Festival in the Polish town of Oswiecim, according to Gigwise.
Soundgarden plans to take a break from touring after the band completes its upcoming European trek, which begins on September 4th in Helsinki, Finland and ends on the 19th of that month in London. According to Blabbermouth, guitarist Kim Thayil told a Seattle radio station, "I think (after the European tour) that will be it for a while. I know that Matt (Cameron, drums) is going to be touring with Pearl Jam and I think Chris (Cornell, vocals) is going to be working on a solo acoustic record and he might be playing some shows during that."
For just about any band that eventually made it big, there's at least one guy who was in the lineup before they were famous -- their 'Pete Best,' if you will. But Jason Everman, who played guitar for Nirvana and bass for Soundgarden in the late '80s, narrowly missed his shot at the charts twice.
Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell said that inducting Heart into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month was an "eye-opening experience" that changed his view of the entire institution.
