Travel anywhere around the Mount Rushmore State and you'll find plenty of small towns on every corner of the map. But the tiniest settlement in the entire state is East River and it's not too far off from the North Dakota border.
Sioux Falls is far and away the largest city in the state of South Dakota. In fact, its population just surpassed 200,000 residents for the first time earlier this year. But South Dakota's smallest town is just as interesting and is around a four-hour drive from the Sioux Falls metro.
