Super Saturday Is The New Black Friday
The numbers are in and Super Saturday, the last Saturday before Christmas, has set the all-time record for the biggest single day in U.S. retail history with sales of $34.4 billion, according to Fortune.
Walmart, Amazon, Costco, and Target lead the way.
Fortune says job growth, along with stronger household finances, has put consumers in a buying mood this season. Online spending so far this season has accounted for 58% of sales growth over last year.
All this while foot traffic was down at most malls. However, the conversion rate, or the percentage of people who go to malls and make a purchase actually rose. Even struggling department stores had their best weekend of the season.
