The Rolling Stones released their song "Angie" as a single 40 years ago today (Wednesday). Taken from their Goats Head Soup album, it went to number-one in the U.S. and number-five in England. It was long believed that the song was written about David Bowie's first wife, Angela, but Mick Jagger said Keith Richards wrote it about his daughter Angela. However, in his autobiography, Life, Keith said the name Angie was a pseudonym for heroin, and that the song was about his attempt to quit using it while detoxing in Switzerland.
