South Dakota Driver Tries Honest Approach To Get Out of Ticket
As long as there have been speed limits on our roads, there have been drivers who abuse those limits.
And as long as drivers have been abusing those limits, they have been coming up with creative reasons in an attempt to justify their lawless behavior.
The latest example came on a rural stretch of South Dakota Highway 44 over the weekend in Turner County. That's when deputies clocked a vehicle doing a robust 89 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone - a full 24 miles over the limit.
When approached by a Turner County Sheriff's deputy, the offender didn't dispute their actions, instead opting for an argument that most of us can relate to.
Happy Sunday Turner County!
This warmer weather has dried off the roads and heated up our desire for spring. Its also raised the traveling speed of this road rocket this morning. A deputy observed this vehicle traveling well above the posted speed limit on SD Highway 44, which is a 65 MPH road. When asked the reason for speed, the young driver replied, “A good song came on and I didn’t have the cruise set.”♂️
We’re not sure, but we believe that song was “I can’t drive 55” by Sammy Hagar, but it’s just a guess. Drive safely folks.
You can invoke the 'Red Rocker' or whichever artist you want, but there's no talking you're way out of 24 miles over the limit!
Better luck next time! Or better yet, just slow down...
