South Dakota Coyote MBB Finalizes 2022-23 Schedule
Despite it being midway through the college football season, basketball fans are already clamoring for schedules and previews of the upcoming season as well.
On Friday, the University of South Dakota Men's Basketball program announced that their 2022-23 schedule has been finalized.
It's an exciting step to a much anticipated upcoming season for the Yotes, as they look to rebound from last year's 19-12 season in what will be the first year under new Head Coach Eric Peterson.
Per GoYotes.com, Sunday, October 30th will be the first action of the season, when the Coyote men play host to Simpson College (Iowa) in Vermillion for an exhibition. It's a 1:00 tip time on Halloween eve.
The season opener should provide the Coyotes and Coach Peterson with a challenge, as the team travels to Madison, Wisconsin to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Monday, November 7th, tip off set for 7:30pm.
The true-blue home opener is set for just two nights later, as USD will host Lipscomb in Vermillion on November 9th, a 7:00 start time. The Yotes will also have a tough matchup at Mississippi State on Thursday, November 17th.
As for Summit League play:
The Summit League opener is Dec. 19 at Kansas City. South Dakota's first home games in Summit play are over the holidays against St. Thomas (Dec. 29) and Western Illinois (Dec. 31). South Dakota hosts rival-South Dakota State Jan. 14 and returns to Brookings Feb. 11. The Summit League Tournament is March 3-7 in Sioux Falls.

It's the first year for Head Coach Eric Peterson, who served as an assistant in Vermillion from 2014-2018. Peterson replaces Todd Lee, who was fired after four seasons as Head Coach last March.
