Sioux Falls Is Losing Another Restaurant
The Sioux Falls restaurant scene has taken another unexpected hit.
Umami Cafe & Catering, which has been operating out of the kitchen at the Signature Flight Support building at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, is closing its doors this Fall.
Owner Jess Blodgett made the announcement on Facebook on Tuesday (July 15) afternoon.
Blodgett has been a part of the Sioux Falls food scene for more than a decade, first operating the Bite Me Mobile Bistro food truck before eventually serving as the Sioux Falls Canaries' director of food and beverage.
When there was an opening for a new food service business at the airport in the Fall of 2022, she jumped at the chance and opened Umani.
It was there that the restaurant served breakfast and lunch as well as providing catering for businesses and individuals.
