Sioux Falls Police Want Your Unwanted Drugs
Ordinarily, the Sioux Falls Police Department is out on the streets looking to round up drugs in the city. But every six months they switch things up and ask you to bring the drugs to them.
It's all part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Take Back Day, Saturday (October 26), from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement building on West 4th Street.
Twice a year, in April and October, the DEA partners with local law enforcement agencies to collect unwanted or unused medications, to give citizens a chance to drop off those meds at a nearby collection site.
On the its Facebook page, the Sioux Falls Police Department said:
'Here's a great chance to dispose of unwanted or unused medication. If you can't make it on Saturday, we have a drop box available anytime our lobby is open. It's free and there are no questions asked!'
There are also five other law enforcement agencies within 50 miles of Sioux Falls taking part in the event:
South Dakota
- Brandon Police Department - Brandon
- Lake County Sheriff - Madison
Iowa
- Lyon County Sheriff - Rock Rapids
- Osceola County Sheriff - Sibley
Minnesota
- Rock County Sheriff - Luverne
The April National Take Back Day saw more than 4,600 law enforcement agencies across America collect 335 tons of medications.
