Sioux Falls Driver Hits Side of Train at Crossing, Arrested for DWI
During the Police Media Briefing at the Law Enforcement Center, Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens said a local resident was cited for DWI charges after his car struck a train at Sixth Street and Weber Avenue early Thursday morning.
"A car was driving along and the driver apparently didn't notice there was a train crossing the road. He ran into the side of the train. We found out he had been drinking and he was arrested for DWI and failure to stop for a train."
Clemens says this type of accident doesn't take place very often in Sioux Falls.
"It's pretty rare. We have certainly had train accidents before. But, for somebody to run into the side of a train is pretty unusual."
The driver of the car has been identified as 43-year-old John Hall.
