More than 4,000 pounds of liquid egg products manufactured in Minnesota and sold to food service locations in nine states across America are being recalled after they were mislabeled with undeclared allergens.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is reporting that Gaylord-based Michael Foods Inc. failed to disclose the presence of dairy milk in the products, which were shipped to restaurants and other food service locations in Alabama, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, and Utah.

About 4,620 pounds of liquid egg products are impacted by the recall. They were produced on June 11, 2024, and were packaged in a 32-ounce carton that read 'Fair Meadow Foundations Whole Eggs with Citric Acid'.

The problem was first discovered when Michael Foods employees were conducting a routine carton inventory evaluation. During that check, it was discovered that a limited amount of cartons was unaccounted for, and there was a corresponding excess of Breakfast Blend Scrambled Egg cartons in inventory.

An investigation determined that the unaccounted Whole Egg with Citric Acid cartons were inadvertently utilized during a single short Breakfast Blend Scrambled Egg production run. The Breakfast Blend formulation contains an allergen, a dairy ingredient (milk), which is not declared on the Whole Egg with Citric Acid label.

As of now, there have not been any reported cases of illness related to the recalled products.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Michael Foods Inc. at 952-258-4903.
