Popular Iowa Christmas Event Will Not Happen in 2024
For nearly 30 years, folks have been flocking to Northwest Iowa to get their fix of holiday cheer at an event so popular it has more than 16,000 followers on Facebook.
But Christmas Acres, just outside of Le Mars, won't be happening in 2024.
Over the weekend (October 5), the man behind the event, Rob Scheitler, announced he was pulling the plug - literally - on this year's event after some health challenges.
Since it began in 1995, Christmas Acres has grown into the largest country Christmas display in Iowa, featuring thousands of lights on 37 trees, 57 bushes, and every available piece of the fence line. The grounds also contain 800 blow molds and 164 lighted sculptures, all set to music.
Over the years, proceeds from the event benefitted the Christian Needs Center in Le Mars.
No word yet on whether the event will return in 2025.
