Polaris to Shut Down Production of Spirit Lake Victory Motorcycles

Victory Motorcycles[/caption]Say goodbye to Iowa made Victory motorcycles.

For the past 18 years Victory Motorcycles were assembled in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Polaris Industries announced on Monday (January 9) that it will immediately shut down production.

According to the desmoinesregister.com, Polaris CEO Scott Wine released a statement saying:

“This was an incredibly difficult decision for me, my team and the Polaris board of directors. “Over the past 18 years, we have invested not only resources, but our hearts and souls, into forging the Victory Motorcycles brand, and we are exceptionally proud of what our team has accomplished."

Officials couldn't say how many jobs would be affected but Polaris will continue to make Indian Motorcycles at the plant. The desmoinesregister says since 1998, Victory's nearly 60 models have won 25 of the industry's top awards.
