Ohio State Is First Unanimous No. 1 in Preseason AP Poll
After winning last year’s national championship, the Ohio State Buckeyes are a unanimous pick among AP voters to repeat in 2015.
The Buckeyes became the first-ever unanimous preseason number one, garnering all 61 first place votes from the media panel. Preseason rankings date back to 1950 but, in that time, no team had ever been a unanimous choice.
TCU comes in at No. 2, followed by Alabama, Baylor and Michigan State.
Not surprisingly, the SEC leads the way in the poll with eight teams ranked in the Top 25. It is followed by the Pac-12 with 6. The Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC all come in with three ranked teams.
This is Ohio State’s eighth time to be the top-ranked team in the preseason poll, second only all-time to Oklahoma with ten. The previous two times the team was ranked No. 1 (1998 and 2006) the Buckeyes finished second.
