College Football season is still a far way off, but the machines are at work calculating and making predictions for what should be another amazing season on the gridiron this Fall.

Per a release from The Spun:

The ESPN College Football Power Index has calculated its top-25 teams heading into the 2022 season.

These rankings are calculated using the expected point margin against an average team on a neutral field (FPI). (Big Ten and Big 12 Teams in Bold)

  3. Georgia Bulldogs
  4. Clemson Tigers
  5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  6. Texas Longhorns
  7. Michigan Wolverines
  8. Oklahoma Sooners

  10. Auburn Tigers
  11. LSU Tigers
  12. Penn State Nittany Lions
  13. Oklahoma State Cowboys
  14. Texas A&M Aggies
  15. Utah Utes
  16. Michigan State Spartans

  19. Baylor Bears

In total, five Big Ten programs have cracked the rankings as well as four Big 12 programs.

In the final College Football playoff rankings last season, the Big Ten had four total teams in the top 25, while the Big 12 finished with just 3. Between the two conferences, Michigan (3rd), Baylor (5th), Ohio State (6th), Oklahoma State (7th), Michigan State (9th), and Oklahoma (10th) finished in the top 10.

It's a computer based model without a ton of information at this point, but the recently released FPI rankings do offer a fun valuation prior to the season kicking off this Fall.
