One week after Cheap Trick, Chicago, the Steve Miller Band, Deep Purple, and others enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the South Dakota rock hall will induct its' Class of 2016.

Nine bands and two venues headline this year's class, which is the eighth group to be inducted into the The South Dakota Rock and Roll Music Association Hall of Fame. Ceremonies take place Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16, at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall in Sioux Falls.

The groups slated for induction:

  • The Postmen – Tripp
  • The Tensions – Tyndall
  • White Wing – Rapid City
  • Military Pickle – Brookings
  • Handy Brothers Chessman Show – Sioux Falls
  • American Music Band – Watertown
  • The Spectacle Rhythm and Blues Soul Revue – Northwest Iowa
  • Ivory – Black Hills
  • Crow - Minneapolis

The venues slated for induction:

  • Broadway Ballroom - Centerville
  • Teen Town De Smet

Other 2016 inductees:

  • Disc jockeys Mike Goodroad (Sioux Falls) and Jack Daniels (Rapid City)
  • Radio station KFYR (Bismarck, ND)
  • Booking agents Gary ‘Igor’ Crawford (Midcontinent Productions) and Chris Van Buren (Full Tilt Management)

The Spirit of the Music Award will be given to three fine musicians who have passed away: Christy Anderson (Black Hills), John Loken (Watertown), and Danny Thomas (Flandreau).

Musician Rod Jerke will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
