Our state's most famous landmark will once again be represented at the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the country on Thursday, November 28. Mount Rushmore’s "American Pride Float" will be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Each year riding on the float is a music celebrity and this year country music star Chris Young will be featured. Young will be joined on the South Dakota float by the Department of Tourism’s Mount Rushmore mascots.

Why does South Dakota have a float in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? The goal by the Department of Tourism is to drive new and repeat visitors to the state and to generate brand awareness.

In a statement released by the Governor’s office, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem said, “This is a tremendous partnership opportunity to showcase South Dakota and provide exposure to our state’s great assets.”

According to Macy's, the over the top fun, epic balloons and floats will stroll through New York City on Thanksgiving morning beginning at 9:00 AM.
