If this isn't a metaphor for life, what is?

In a video called "This is 30," Andrew Stadelberger stands in a photo booth at a wedding with guests who look like they are having the time of their lives. Stadelberger, meanwhile, looks like he's en route to a root canal while Yanni is playing on an endless loop.

Simon & Garfunkel's classic "The Sound of Silence" only enhances the mood and message. Stadelberger is struggling to make it through while everyone else is experiencing a world of rainbows and unicorns.

It's kind of like your Facebook feed -- you go on it, only to see everyone is posting updates about their amazing lives. The kid you sat next to in fourth grade social studies is having a killer vacation in Acapulco (according to the photo of his feet at the end of a beach chair with the Pacific in the distance), the woman you worked with for one week at Starbucks has a daughter who is a future rocket scientist (according to the photo of her holding the "Honor Roll" bumper sticker in the driveway of her home with the pristine front lawn the size of a football field behind her) and the guy you don't even know how you know is in ridiculous shape (according to the photo of him smiling with his medal after completing a marathon).

And you? You're scrolling through Facebook while gouging on Cheetos and Mr. Pibb, thinking you haven't done anything with your life. Cheer up, Andrew. The rest of your 30s is bound to be better.

Of course, there is also the possibility we may just be reading a wee bit too much into this.
