It’s hot. It’s muggy. It’s that time of year in Minnesota where even stepping outside feels like walking into a sauna. You know, the kind of weather that has you longing for fall and daydreaming about flannel shirts, football, Halloween, and those crisp fall nights where you can finally sleep with the windows open again.

But hold up, before we start manifesting corn mazes and pumpkin spice lattes, the Farmer’s Almanac just dropped its fall weather outlook for 2025, and while much of the country is expected to have a warmer-than-normal season, that might not be the case for us here in the upper Midwest.

Here's What the Farmer's Almanac Says for Minnesota:

September is expected to come in cooler and wetter than usual. The average temperature? Around 57 degrees, which is two degrees below normal. Rainfall might be slightly above average, with a mix of drizzle, more frequent rain showers, and even the possibility of some early snow up north. There will be some warmer days later in the month, but they’ll be few and far between.

By October, the cooling trend continues. The Almanac is calling for an average temperature of 45 degrees, again two degrees below normal. Rain will drop off a bit, coming in around an inch below typical levels. Chilly rain, and yes, more snow chances, especially in northern Minnesota. There may be a few sunny and warmer days in the back half of the month, but overall, fall’s shaping up to be brisk.
