South Dakota Man Debuts At Carnegie Hall Next Month

You've probably heard the old joke, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" The answer is "Practice, practice, practice!!"

For one former Redfield, South Dakota student, that dream is coming true. Nathan Payant started his education in Redfield, South Dakota, and in less than a month will be taking the stage at Carnegie Hall in a debut choir performance.

According to Dakota News Now, Payant graduated from Redfield High School, and then went on to Northern State University in Aberdeen. He became a teacher in the Denver area, then went on to get a PhD at Colorado State University.

Dr. Payant was surprised and thrilled at being contacted for this event. He said it may be because he directs several choir groups in the Fort Collins area.

He is bringing about 70 students with him and there will be an additional 50 students from a Wisconsin group that will make up the rest of the sizeable choir.

Payant will conduct two performances at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 13. The first performance will be at 1 PM and the second at 8:00 PM.

It's truly a case of a small-town guy making good.
