For the past two decades, the Sioux Falls SculptureWalk has turned the downtown region of the city into an open-air art gallery that has quickly become a signature attraction for both residents and anyone making a visit to South Dakota's largest city.

This week, the 22nd annual Sioux Falls SculptureWalk unveiled its 2025 "Best of Show" winner.

The honor this year goes to the sculpture named "Tetra Totem in Azul Imperia." A striking-looking modern piece created by artist Lauren Thompson, who has strong ties to the city of Sioux Falls.

Thompson told Dakota News Now, “Being chosen for Best of Show is a true honor. It’s inspiring to be part of a program that celebrates creativity and brings artists and the public together in such a meaningful way.”

This eye-catching winning sculpture will be on display in downtown Sioux Falls until next spring at 227 North Duluth Avenue. It's part of the 80 other pieces of art that are spread across the downtown area in the Eastbank, Uptown, Steel District, and the Cathedral District.

Once next April comes rolling around, the Visual Arts Committee will work with the city to relocate "Tetra Totem in Azul Imperia" to its permanent home in the community.

The Sioux Falls SculptureWalk "Best of Show" award is a designation given to a sculpture based on its artistic merit and creativity.

The winner each year gets more than just bragging rights; the city purchases the top piece of art and then gives it a permanent home within Sioux Falls for public display.
