The City will be conducting essential bridge preservation work to maintain the structure's integrity and safety.

While lanes will alternate throughout the project, two-way traffic will remain open at all times. Weather permitting, crews expect to complete the work within two weeks.

South Western Avenue Work Rescheduled

Utility work originally planned for Thursday, October 2 has been postponed and will now begin at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

MidAmerican Energy Company will be performing utility improvements along South Western Avenue between West 28th Street and West 26th Street. The northbound lane will shift toward the center of the street during construction.

Two-way traffic will be maintained, though parking will be restricted within the work zone. This project is scheduled for completion by end of day Wednesday, October 8, 2025, with all traffic control removed.

Plan Ahead

Both projects may cause delays during peak travel times. Drivers are strongly encouraged to:

  • Use caution and reduce speeds when traveling through construction zones
  • Allow extra travel time
  • Consider alternate routes when possible
  • Watch for construction workers and equipment

We appreciate the community's patience as we work to improve Sioux Falls' infrastructure.

Help Sioux Falls Zoo Name The New Snow Leopard Baby!

Visitors of the Sioux Falls Great Plains Zoo can catch glimpses of the Snow Leopard cub and her mother, Denali, as they explore their outdoor space.

The pair will decide when they're ready to venture out, so patience and quiet observation are key.

On alternate days, father Strut will have access to the exhibit … true to nature, where male snow leopards don't raise their young.
