Sioux Falls Sidewalk Arts Festival Returns Saturday With Over 230 Artists And 40,000 Visitors
You know, fall weather is down the hall and right around the corner when downtown Sioux Falls begins filling up with artists for the annual Sidewalk Arts Festival.
For many people in the Sioux Empire, the Sidewalk Arts Festival is one of those events that officially signals the changing of the seasons. Summer isn't quite gone yet, but you can feel fall waiting in the wings.
The 63rd annual Sioux Falls Sidewalk Arts Festival returns to downtown Sioux Falls on Saturday, September 12, with the festivities getting underway that morning at 9:00 AM.

The streets surrounding the Washington Pavilion will be transformed into one giant outdoor art gallery. The area between 10th Street and 13th Street will be closed to traffic as more than 230 artists and craft artisans set up displays featuring everything from paintings and photography to pottery, jewelry, sculptures, ceramics, and handcrafted items.
On average each year, roughly 40,000 people make their way downtown for the festival to lay eyes on all the different pieces of works of art.
That's a lot of people walking around Sioux Falls looking at art, and probably a lot of people saying, "I could never make something like that!"
The festival features artists from Sioux Falls, across the region, and around the country, making it a great opportunity to discover something unique. Whether you're looking for a piece of artwork for your home, a handmade gift, jewelry, decorations, or simply something interesting to look at while enjoying a Saturday downtown, there will be no shortage of things to see.
And, of course, you can't spend a Saturday wandering around downtown Sioux Falls without eating some food.
Several food vendors and food trucks will be on hand, offering plenty of snacks, meals, and treats to keep you fueled while you browse through all the various treasures.
Live entertainment and interactive activities for kids and families will also be available, making this more than a simple stroll through downtown.
The Sidewalk Arts Festival has become the largest one-day arts festival in the region and has turned into an annual tradition for generations of Sioux Falls-area residents.
Best of all, admission is free.
The festival is a fundraiser supporting the Washington Pavilion of Arts & Science, with proceeds helping the Pavilion continue its mission of providing memorable experiences that entertain, educate, and enrich the Sioux Falls community.
