Randi Van Der Sloot is a teacher, a mom, a wife, a friend, and an inspiration to anyone whose life she has touched. And that list is long.

Randi is also a woman bravely fighting Stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer, the most aggressive form of breast cancer, with the highest rate of mortality.

We found out about this remarkable woman from our mutual friend Brienne Maner, from Startup Sioux Falls. Brienne spoke in such glowing terms about this person who radiates positivity, that I wanted to know more.

Randi was first diagnosed in 2015 and after a year of chemo and radiation, she was considered cancer-free. Shortly after she found out she was pregnant with her second child. The family refers to her as a miracle child.

In December 2020, there was more unexpected news - the return of cancer and this time it had spread. In Randi's typical fashion, they once again went into warrior mode.

As a dedicated teacher, Randi's classroom was not just a space for learning,  but also a haven of inspiration. Her students admired her infectious enthusiasm for life, hope, and joy. When cancer entered her life, it became another lesson for them – one of resilience, courage, and unyielding strength.

This past holiday season Randi was chosen by the American Cancer Society/Dakotas to share her story of hope.

At this point, the battle continues with peace, and of course- -joy, as the ultimate goal.

You can become one of Randi's Warriors, or become part of the GoFundMe that has been set up for Randi's family. You can even shop at an event for the family this Sunday.
