I have a vivid memory from my childhood of the first time I was ever in a New York Deli. The food was fantastic, but the server was so rude, she nearly brought me and my little sister to tears.

I look back on that experience sometimes and wonder if it was only because we were little kids in an unfamiliar, loud, and busy environment. But no, that wasn't it at all, it was the rude, crabby attitude of the server. And I think to myself, "Why would anyone pay to be treated like that?!"

And yet, people do. And, they like it!

The proof is a number of restaurants that make their living doing exactly that, in New York, Chicago, and around the world. In fact, they turn rudeness into entertainment. I don't know. Maybe if you're in on the joke when you walk in the door...

That being said, a brand new rude restaurant will be coming to Minneapolis this October. But it will only be open for a short time. Karen's Pop-Up Diner will be open from October 14 to 15, 2023.

You need to book tickets online and just to get in the door will cost you $47 dollars. This includes your burger, fries, soda, and a healthy helping of rude treatment from your server.

You can expect a retro-diner feel and your kids are allowed but only until 5 PM. After that, it is no one under 16 allowed.

So, if you love your supper with a side of snark, this would be the place for you! For more information, see Hidden Minneapolis.
