
Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Parts of the Sioux Empire Friday Night
Late Friday night, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that includes parts of South Dakota as well as parts of Iowa and Nebraska.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 3:00 AM Saturday, June 28.

In South Dakota Lincoln, Union, and Minnehaha counties.
In Iowa: Cherokee, Lyon, O'brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Sioux, Ida, and Woodbury counties.
"A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Northwest Iowa
Northeast Nebraska
Southeast South Dakota
* Effective this Friday night and Saturday morning from 1030 PM
until 300 AM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 80
mph possible
Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...A well-organized/intense cluster of storms with a history
of severe-caliber winds will continue southeastward late this

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 40 miles south of
Mitchell SD to 55 miles east northeast of Sioux City IA. For a
