Dogs are truly our best friends. They are with us on our good and bad days. Right now, there's a South Dakota family missing their best friend.

Recently, The McCook County Sheriff's Office has been asking for the public's help finding young South Dakota puppies. Thankfully one of those puppies has been found. But the search is still on for the four-legged friend named Griffin.

Griffin is a five-month-old Alaskan Husky who weighs about 40 pounds. He has been missing since late December. The McCook County Sheriff's Office and a Facebook group called The Retrievers have shared information about Griffin. The backstory on how Griffin got separated from his family is quite sad. A Facebook post from The Retrievers explains Griffin and his family were involved in an accident near Montrose. Griffin and his sibling were pretty scared when it accident happened, so they both ran off.

Griffin is still missing in action and his family really wants him home. If you see Griffin in your area, here is what the McCook County Sheriff's Office recommends:

Please call or text the # with any sighting information. If you see him, please Do Not attempt to approach, call out to him or follow him. We also ask that people do not go out and actively search for him. He's very scared and will run further away! The Retrievers have a plan in place to humanely trap him. Please take a screenshot of the flyer so you have the # handy. Your sighting calls and texts are greatly appreciated!

The phone number to call is (612)-321-8774. People can also call (509)-565-0151 to submit a tip if they see Griffin!

Let's bring Griffin home!
