A 12-year-old Iowa boy has died in a tragic accident. In Sloan, Iowa a boy who was riding on a float in a Homecoming parade fell off and was run over.

Dakota News Now is reporting that Woodbury County Deputy William Brooks says the boy fell off of a parade float on Friday.

The Sioux City Journal reports the boy was flown to a Sioux City hospital but died of his injuries.

The football game that was scheduled for Friday night was postponed until Saturday. A community gathering was held at the school's football field on Friday evening.

The Westwood Community School District has identified the victim as 12-year-old Kage McDonald.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover funeral-related costs. The original goal was $3000. As of Monday the $27,160 has been raised.

Sloan, Iowa is a town for around 1200 people about 1 1/2 hours south of Sioux Falls.
