Tis the Season: I-90 Construction Set to Start in Sioux Falls Area
As we get ready to turn the calendar to a new month, we're about to usher in the start of South Dakota's 'fifth season': road construction.
One of the first big projects on the docket for 2024 is along Interstate 90, just west of Sioux Falls.
Starting Thursday, April 4, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin work on an 11-mile stretch of road between Hartford and Humboldt.
The project will involve removing and replacing the concrete on the eastbound lanes of I-90 and will also include replacing the bridge at the Humboldt exit (379).
During construction, two-way traffic with 12-foot width restrictions will be in place and the speed limit will be reduced to 65 miles per hour.
The $37.3 million project is expected to be completed by November.
