You usually don't associate snowplows with anything fun. After all, we don't lay eyes on these massive vehicles unless Mother Nature has unleashed her worst on us and road conditions are dreadful.

However, snowplows in South Dakota are responsible for some unexpected smiles this week with the unveiling of the winners of the South Dakota Department of Transportation's (SDOT) annual Snowplow Naming Contest, as selected by the SDDOT staff.

Fun side note: three of the winning entries (Custer, Pierre, and Winner) were submitted by elementary school classes.
