Helpline Center COVID-19 Volunteer Needs This Week
It is more than likely that no one would be surprised to know that the Helpline Center's needs for volunteers center around the current crisis. The opportunities they have for people with big hearts and free time are many.
- Sioux Falls Food Distribution - This collaborative effort between the Helpline Center, Feeding South Dakota, Faith Temple Food Giveaway, Corona Help Sioux Falls and the Salvation Army is meant to provide food to hungry families in the Sioux Empire. Volunteers are needed every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 AM to 8 PM at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
- South Dakota Network Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault - They are in desperate need of homemade masks for their staff and clients, with over 200 requests coming into them from shelters, agencies, and more. Masks can be sent to South Dakota Network Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault, PO Box 90453, Sioux Falls SD 57109 and they will then distribute them.
- Lifescape - This organization is also asking people to sew homemade masks using either your own materials or by using a kit that includes everything you need to make 30 masks and is provided by Lifescape. You'll find the kits right inside the Lifescape Rehab Center's main entrance at 1020 W. 18th Street near Sanford Hosptial, from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, which is where you'll also return your finished masks.
For more information on these opportunities and many others, or if you yourself need help, call 211, or see the Helpline Center online and on Facebook.
