The Sioux Falls St. Patrick's Day parade has named Bill Baker as Grand Marshal.  The 41st annual parade takes place on March 14 in downtown Sioux Falls.

Baker served as the CEO of First National Bank in Sioux Falls.  March 14 also happens to be Baker's 60th birthday.

The “people’s parade”, as it's known, was started by the late Sioux Falls businesswoman Sylvia Henkin.  The parade draws thousands of people from around the region.

According to Dakota News Now, the parade is planned by the St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza Committee with support from the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.  Since 2009, it has been held on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day.

Events kick off at 11 a.m. on March 14, 2020, with the painting of the shamrock at 9th Street and N. Phillips Avenue. The parade begins at Phillips Avenue and 13th Street at 2 p.m. and ends around 5th Street.

Participation in the parade is free, but advance registration is required. Registration must be completed online by March 9.
