Empire Mall Seeking Applicants for Scholarships

For those of you who have a high school senior who's looking at going on to college next year, here's a scholarship you might want to check out.

The parent company of the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls is once again stepping up to assist local high school seniors pay for college.

Each year, Simon Youth Community Scholarships are awarded in every community across the country that is home to a Simon mall or outlet center.

Recipients will receive up to $1,500 toward tuition and other educational expenses at an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school.

Recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic performance, leadership skills, and participation in school and community activities.

Those students who are the first in their family to pursue a post-secondary education will be given extra consideration.

The application period runs through February 15, 2018. Students can apply online by visiting syf.org/scholarships.

In 2017, the Simon Youth Foundation awarded $1.6 million to 335 students nationwide. This year’s recipients will be notified in May.
