Scientists have developed a test to determine whether or not a cup of Kopi Luwak coffee of Indonesia is counterfeit. The test shows that the beans have passed through the alimentary tract of the Asian palm civet, a cat-like mammal. The process gives the beans their unique flavor and enables Kopi Luwak to sell the coffee for $80-per-cup and $150-per-pound.The fact that people will pay exorbitant amounts for real Kopi Luwak has led to a thriving black market in fake Kopi Luwak. Some people sell regular coffee beans and claim they are the famous civet coffee.

Where do you start with a story like this?

--People pay BIG money for this? WHY?? I like coffee too, but I'm good with a Dunkin' Donuts or Folgers blend.

--I've got a cat. Sure not eating ANYTHING that comes out of him!

--Scientists were paid to develop a test to stop counterfeit cat poop coffee. Good thing all the world's diseases have been cured so these guys can develop this test. WTH?!?!

So what's your take? If offered a cup of this coffee, knowing where the beans come from, would you drink it?
