It's that time of year again when NCAA sports brackets are blazing, and South Dakota State University and San Diego State University get confused by sports analysts and commentators. Can we set the record straight as to who the real SDSU is?

According to Senator Tom Nelson (@SenTomNelson), South Dakota State University was the first to claim it.

On a post on "X" South Dakota State was founded in 1881 as Dakota Agricultural College and became SDSU in 1962. San Diego State was founded in 1897 as San Diego Normal School (what?) and didn't become SDSU until 1974.

To go back further, the yearbook of 1904 was called the "Jackrabbit."

Ha! Now we know.

To add more credibility, the homecoming celebration, Hobo Day, has been dubbed "The Biggest One-Day Event in the Dakotas." The celebration began in 1907!
