On October, 13 2017 Sioux Falls indoor swimming facility The Midco Aquatic Center celebrated its first year of operation.

By the numbers here's what year one in the life of the facility looks like:

  • An average daily attendance of 643 people
  • 227,005 in total attendance for the year
  • Over $1.2 million in revenue generated
  • $1.5 million in expenses (officials say this is on track with prior budget projections)
  • 1,738 Swimming lesson participants
  • 367 Water fitness class participants
  • 6,931 Swim lane hours reserved
  • 463 Meeting room hours reserved
  • 2,303 Swim passes sold
  • 8 Swim meets hosted
  • 500+ Individual personal swimming records set
  • 5 USA Swimming South Dakota state records broken
  • 1,613 Hot dogs sold at The Dive-In
  • 6,672 Slices of pizza sold at The Dive-In

“By all accounts the Midco Aquatic Center has exceeded our expectations during our first year...Thank you for your phenomenal support of our first indoor aquatic center for Sioux Falls, a project 60 years in the making,”  Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation, said in a statement.
