Brookings Man Arrested After Stand-Off With Police
Brookings Police spent the first several hours of the Memorial Day holiday in a standoff with an intoxicated man in a trailer park.
Police were called to the Westview Trailer Court shortly after 5am on a report of an intoxicated man who had fired a handgun. Reports were that he was acting strangely and was also in possession of a high powered rifle.
After five hours of not being able to contact the suspect, gas was used to bring him out and end the standoff peacefully.
The 30-year old man is being evaluated at an area hospital. He faces two charges: possession of a firearm while intoxicated and discharging a firearm while intoxicated.
