Consumer Safety Agency Warns Air Fryer Owners Of Sudden Door Closure Burn Hazard
An urgent warning is going out to anyone who purchased an air fryer from some of the country's biggest retailers.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) has issued the alert for Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Ovens with French Doors after receiving dozens of burn reports. At least one of the reports included scarring 'reflective of second-degree burns.'

Investigators found the doors can 'suddenly close on consumers' arms' while the oven is still on.

The ovens were sold through major retailers like Costco, Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon.
They were originally imported by Team International Group of America, Inc. and Kalorik, LLC, which went out of business and could not initiate a recall. Those companies sold the products from April 2020 to Jan. 8, 2024.
The current owner of the Kalorik brand, The Legacy Companies, LLC, which sold the products after June 23, 2025, 'declined to participate in a recall,' the CPSC said.
The impacted models include the MAXX and MAXX Advance air fryers, which may have been sold with various SKUs, Item Numbers or 'Model' numbers that include the basic models.
Anyone who has one of the air fryers is being urged to immediately dispose of it, following local hazardous waste disposal procedures.
Costco has informed customers to stop using the item and return it to their local Costco for a full refund.
Any burn incidents or other injuries can be reported to CSPC's Safer Products page.
