There are two hubs when it comes to all things pizza in the United States - New York City and Chicago.

Each city has its own unique styles of pies, from the Big Apple's large, thin slices, to the Windy City's signature deep dish creations.

So when it comes to picking out the best pizza joints in the Midwest, you'd likely predict that Chicago would dominate.

Not as much as you might think.

Yelp looked at user reviews and consulted with its Community Managers to compile a list of the Top 100 Pizza Spots in the Midwest.

The Tri-State (South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota) area is well-represented with 18 picks.

The only one to land in the Top 25 is Young Joni's in Minneapolis (#25).

This is the second big honor for Chef Ann Kim's restaurant, earlier this summer it made the New York Times' list of the 22 best pizzerias in the country.

South Dakota placed one restaurant in the Top 50 and has four places overall on the list:

Iowa matched Minnesota with seven spots in the Top 100:

And while Chicago-area pizza places did account for more than a dozen spots on the list, it was a Michigan joint that topped the rankings, while the Wolverine State matched Illinois with 16 places overall.
