According to Pro Football Talk, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will plead no contest to reckless assault.

The charge for reckless assault is a misdemeanor, and would allow Peterson to serve no jail time. Pro Football Talk reports that Peterson was fined $4,000 and will serve 80 hours of community service

Peterson will now have to get the final verdict of the NFL in terms of when he could return to the team. Under the latest NFL Domestic Dispute Policy, Peterson could face a six game suspension if the NFL decides to tag him under the new policy. If the NFL does not suspend Peterson, he could be back with the Vikings following the bye week.

PFT also reports that the NFL does not have a timetable yet on when a decision regarding Peterson would be made.
