Minnesota Vikings Decline 2017 Option on Adrian Peterson’s Contract
The Adrian Peterson era in Minnesota looks to be coming to an end. Peterson is set to become an unrestricted free agent.
Minnesota announced this morning that they will not exercise the 2017 option on Adrian Peterson's contract. That gives Peterson free status to jump to any team he wishes during free agency. There is still a chance, however, that he signs with Minnesota on a new deal.
The move comes as no surprise as Peterson's contract would have cost the Vikings $18 million in cap room for 2017.
Peterson recently told ESPN's First Take that, outside of the Vikings, his shortlist of teams he would like to play for includes New York (Giants), Houston, and Tampa Bay.
