AARP Free Movie Night Is Back at Sioux Falls State Theatre
You don't get a lot of opportunities to enjoy a night of free entertainment these days, but you'll have your chance later this month in downtown Sioux Falls.
August 21 is the next Monday Movie at the State Theater on Phillips Avenue. Showtime is 7:00 PM.
The event is sponsored by AARP South Dakota.
This month's feature is the iconic 1978 musical Grease.
The film stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as Danny and Sandy, two students at Rydell High School in the late 1950s.
Grease was a massive hit at the box office, earning $366 million, making it the highest-grossing musical movie at the time.
The film's soundtrack was just as successful, selling 30 million copies worldwide and topping the charts in the U.S. and 12 other countries. A single from the soundtrack, 'Hopelessly Devoted to You', was nominated for Best Original Song at the 1979 Academy Awards, losing out to 'Last Dance' from Thank God It's Friday.
The Sioux Falls showing is open to AARP members and non-members alike. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance.
AARP sponsors the Monday Movie every May through October.
