Can the Jacks Pull the Upset?

This time around, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits are 3-0, are nationally ranked and are vying for a win in Lincoln over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Back in 2010, SDSU was 0-2, and Nebraska was 3-0 going into a game a Memorial Stadium. The Jackrabbits, meanwhile, had other plans. SDSU almost beat the Cornhuskers, losing 17-3. At the time of the season in 2010, the Jackrabbits limited Nebraska to a season-low 205 rushing yards, and just 345 total yards.

Coming into the game tomorrow in 2013, SDSU is ranked No. 6 in the Football Championship Subdivision, and is led by quarterback Austin Sumner and running back Zach Zenner.

The Jacks will receive 395,000 regardless of the outcome on Saturday, but there may not be a better time for a FCS school to pull an upset than this year. Earlier this year, North Dakota State knocked off Kansas State, and Eastern Washington beat Oregon State. Not to mention, Nebraska is coming off a loss against UCLA and Bo Pelini is taking heat for comments he said about the program's fans in 2011.

The Jacks are 3-0 so far in 2013, while Nebraska is 2-1. In 2013 for the Jacks, quarterback Austin Sumner has passed for 670 yards and five touchdowns, while running back Zach Zenner has ran for 540 yards and eight touchdowns.

For the Huskers, the Big Red could be without star quarterback Taylor Martinez, who is doubtful with a turf toe injury. Redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong, Jr. would get the start if Martinez cannot go.

As a team, Nebraska is scoring 38 points a game while allowing 29.3 points a game. On offense, the Huskers are gaining 446.7 yards a game while allowing 463.3 yards a game. SDSU is scoring 41.3 points a game, while allowing opponents to score 22.7 points a game. On offense, the Jacks are gaining 448.7 yards per game while allowing opponents to gain 412 yards a game.

SDSU fans can watch the Jackrabbits take on the Cornhuskers at 2:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network tomorrow.
