The movie version of Gregg Allman's autobiography "My Cross To Bear", now has it's lead actor.

William Hurt, known for movies like "Into the Wild", "The Big Chill" and "Altered States", will play the 'older' version of Allman. Tyson Ritter, the lead singer of the band the All-American Rejects, will play the younger version of Allman.

The movie will tell two stories: of Allman's early struggles as an artist through the formation of the Allman Brothers Band with his brother Duane; and the pitfalls of stardom and succumbing to drugs and alcohol before realizing at the age of 64 that he has to get clean or risk dying.

Production is scheduled to begin February 2014 in Savannah, Georgia.
