Greta Van Fleet

Sanford PREMIER Center grabs another great show for 2022. Greta Van Fleet 'Dreams of Gold' tour is coming to Sioux Falls on September 24.

It's going to be a great live concert for rock and hard blues fans. But who is Greta Van Fleet?

Like most great bands, the four members grew up listening to their parent's vinyl records. Particularly, Led Zeppelin, which is the band that fans compare them to the most. Guitarist Jake Kiszka said that he had to learn how Zeppelin's Jimmy Page was thinking when defining a guitar style and composing.

Jake has two brothers in this Grammy Award-winning band: Josh with vocals and Sam on bass and backing vocals. Together, along with Danny Wagner on the drums, they wrote and recorded their debut album, Black Smoke Rising.

Where did the name Greta Van Fleet come from? According to Wikipedia, The band name was created when former founding member Kyle Hauck heard a relative mention Gretna Van Fleet, a resident of Frankenmuth, Michigan - their hometown - their use of the variation on her name was done with her blessing.

Greta Van Fleet is a relatively new band. Formed in 2012, the record company Lava Records, took a chance on a demo tape from the guys and signed them. It was a windfall for both parties after they were named Best New Artist at the Loudwire Music Awards. The won Rock Song of the Year in 2019 at the iHeart music Awards with the Safari Song. They were nominated for four Grammy's the same year and won one.
