‘Walking Dead’ Fans Petition AMC to Reveal Season 6 Finale Death
Fires are still raging among The Walking Dead fandom after Sunday’s cliffhanger finale “Last Day on Earth,” which obscured a major death until the seventh season this coming fall. We’ve heard showrunners back up the decisions, but thousands of fans are still demanding resolution, drafting an actual petition for AMC to reveal the victim.
You’re warned of full Walking Dead Season 6 spoilers from here on out, but suffice to say, a chunk of the AMC horror smash’s fans aren’t content to wait until October (or any possible leaks over the summer) to learn which member of #TeamRick suffered the wrath of Negan’s barbed-wire bat “Lucille.” An actual petition has been circulating on Change.org, as of posting at 1,870+ supporters, just shy of its 2,500 goal.
That said, the actual request seems a bit unfeasible, given production of Season 7 won’t start for a few weeks:
I would like AMC to show us who Negan killed in the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead. We want this either in an interim episode that borders Season 6 and 7, or a short R-Rated webisode that shows us the death in all it’s bloody glory. Either of these are fine as long as it’s released before May 30th.
This isn’t the first time unfavorable turns on The Walking Dead have given rise to petition, most recently seen when a cadre of viewers demanded the return of fan-favorite Beth Greene after a Season 5 exit. Last we checked, it didn’t work out.
We’ve not heard the last of The Walking Dead Season 6 finale controversy, especially as filming on Season 7 begins in the coming weeks, while fan events like Comic-Con will surely put the burning question under the spotlight once more.
How next might AMC assuage irritated viewers, once the petition passes? There’s always the Blu-ray to tide us over.
