Unfortunately, if I am going to engage in the art of texting these days, I have no choice but to familiarize myself with an entirely new way of communication.

That means trying to decipher the litany of text abbreviations that have replaced good, old-fashioned, fully structured words and sentences.

It's all LOL (laughing out loud) and TMI (too much information) nowadays.

So which abbreviation definitions are the most sought-after in South Dakota?

The word-finding experts at Unscramblerer.com analyzed recent search data from Google Trends for terms related to texting acronyms.

South Dakota's top 10 most searched text abbreviations:

  1. FAFO - F--k around and find out.
  2. FWB - Friends with benefits.
  3. WYF - Where are you from?
  4. ASL - As hell.
  5. DW - Don't worry.
  6. TS - "Tough sh-t" or "Talk soon".
  7. MB - My bad.
  8. WYO - What you on?
  9. TBH - To be honest.
  10. ISTG - I swear to god.

Four of those (FAFO, ASL, TS, TBH) also appear on the Top Ten most searched-for text abbreviations across the country. Here are the other six:
