Great White Singer Terry Ilous Teases New Solo LP With Cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love': Exclusive Premiere
Singer Terry Ilous is taking a detour from his duties fronting Great White to release his third solo album, Gypsy Dreams — and the set's first single, a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic "Whole Lotta Love," is premiering right here. Check it out above.
Out April 28 at digital retailers and due later this month on CD, Gypsy Dreams rounds up some of Ilous' favorite songs by other artists and gives them a "Latin and flamenco edge." The set showcases the breadth of the XYZ founder's influences, running the gamut from hard rock hits like "Whole Lotta Love," Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" and Rainbow's "Kill the King" to more unexpected choices, such as covers of Christopher Cross' "Ride Like the Wind," Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" and the Doobie Brothers' "Long Train Running."
"This album is just the start in a series of different projects I have in mind for the future," explains Ilous in a press release for the album. "I decided to start with covers of familiar and rock favorites to introduce the Latin/flamenco rock sound to my audience, and I plan to start up a series of intimate club shows reminiscent of close-knit Latin & Gypsy gatherings."
In the meantime, Ilous remains busy on the road with Great White, but if it takes a while to get those club shows going, it's just par for the course with a project that's developed at its own deliberate pace. "This has been a long road, but the final tracks sound truly amazing, and are definitely worth the wait," he adds. "I thank all my fans and band for being a part of this journey and for all your support along the way, I couldn't have done it without each and every one of you."
